Small Scraps · Big Impact

A Creative Reuse Workshop Series

Small Scraps · Big Impact is a hands-on workshop series that celebrates the creative potential of fabric remnants, worn textiles, and everyday leftovers. Through four distinct but connected workshops, participants explore techniques that transform scraps into functional, beautiful, and meaningful objects, proving that even the smallest materials can create lasting change.

After plastic, textile waste, driven largely by fast fashion, is one of the biggest pollutants in the world. Millions of tons of fabric are discarded every year, much of it still usable. Learning how to recycle and repurpose even the smallest scraps creates a significant impact when these practices become part of our everyday lifestyle. This program offers practical, creative ways to engage with that change, one stitch, braid, and weave at a time.

Rooted in sustainability, traditional craft, and experimentation, this series invites participants to slow down, work with their hands, and rethink waste as a powerful creative resource. Each workshop stands alone, yet together they tell a bigger story of repair, reuse, and resilience.

All workshops are beginner friendly. No prior experience is required, just curiosity, openness, and a sense of adventure.

These workshops can be run individually or as a series. The choice is yours…

  • Fabric Crochet Bowls: Learn simple crochet techniques to shape fabric strips into sturdy, sculptural bowls. A playful introduction to transforming scraps into functional objects.
  • Rag Weaving Bags: Discover the fundamentals of rag weaving while turning textile remnants into durable, one-of-a-kind bags that balance utility with personal expression.
  • Visible Mending: Reimagine repair as design. Use basic stitching and fabric scraps to extend the life of garments while making bold, intentional statements.
  • Braided Placemats: Combine narrow fabric scraps through braiding techniques to create tactile, functional placemats that elevate everyday spaces.

Why Small Scraps · Big Impact?

  • Because fabric scraps hold stories.
  • Because repair can be beautiful.
  • Because small, thoughtful actions, repeated daily, can lead to meaningful change.

Participants leave with practical skills, finished pieces, and a renewed way of seeing textiles, not as waste, but as opportunity.
